About the Chamber

On April 14, 1952, the Berkeley Springs–Morgan County Chamber of Commerce was officially incorporated with a clear and powerful mission: “To advertise the advantages of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, and vicinity, as a better place in which to live and do business.” From the very beginning, the goal was simple — lift up the community, support local business, and help this special place thrive.

Like many worthwhile endeavors, our story hasn’t followed a perfectly straight line. Just a few years after its founding, the Chamber was dissolved in 1955, with records noting that it was “unable to arouse the general interest in such a program and have met with little or no cooperation.”

Thankfully, that wasn’t the end of the story.

By July 31, 1958, handwritten meeting minutes tell a new story: the Chamber was back, revived by people who believed deeply in the value of working together. From that moment on, the Chamber has continued to grow and evolve, shaped by generations of dedicated board members, resilient small businesses, volunteers, and community leaders who understood that cooperation isn’t automatic — it’s something you build, nurture, and show up for.

Over the decades, the Chamber has been proud to support businesses big and small, celebrate milestones and ribbon cuttings, host festivals and mixers, and serve as a connector for people who care about Morgan County. From late-night planning meetings to early-morning coffee conversations, it’s the people — you — who have made this organization what it is today.

To everyone who has been part of the journey: thank you.
To those just discovering us or considering joining: welcome.
And to that note from 1955? We think it’s safe to say… challenge accepted. ❤️

Here’s to more than seven decades of lifting each other up – and many more to come.
